Definition of Refugee :
Under the Geneva Convention - any person who, “ owing to a well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion, is outside the country of his nationality is unable or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to avail himself of the protection of that country.”

IN MALAYSIA
• Refugees apply to United Nations High Commissioner
for Refugees (UNHCR) to claim political asylum.
• They wait and hope UNHCR will help them resettle in
USA or other western countries
• UNHCR will issue UN Registration Card
•In the meantime, those who have been caught
corrupt enforcement officers without the card will be put in jail,
caned and subsequently deported.
